Blemishes & Humour
Blemishes & Humour is a collection of twelve terracotta bottles that are inspired by childhood recklessness. The collection is a follow-up to Spoiled Relics as an interpretation of the face bottle representing personal nostalgia opposed to imagined ancestry. The forms are inspired by vague childhood memories and the glazes represent the abundant bodily fluids present in youth. All of the materials chosen in creation of the collection are materials that are available in grade school classrooms- low-fire clay and low-fire glazes. Blemishes & Humour was created in 2021 as the first collection made in Esther’s private home studio.
